Berlin’s Yiddish community invites our friends and neighbors to a gathering of Yiddish lider (poems, songs, and their intersections) during the lunar month of Khezhvn, when the nights are getting long and even the halbe levone, the half-moon, is turning away from the sun. Come help us spin a dim evening into a festival of contemporary Yiddish (and a little Irish) culture, shining more light on an almost darkened disc.
די בערלינער ייִדיש־סבֿיבֿה פֿאַרבעט אונדזערע חבֿרים און שכנים אױף אַ צונױפֿקום פֿון ייִדישע לידער (זינגלידער, לײענלידער און איבערשנײַדן) אין חשװן, װען די נעכט פֿאַרלענגערן זיך און אַפֿילו די האַלבע לבֿנה האַלט אין אַװעקדרײען זיך פֿון דער זון. לאָמיר מאַכן פֿון אַ טריבן אָװנט אַ יום־טובֿ לכּבֿוד הײַנטיקער ייִדישער קולטור און אַזױ אַרום שײַנען מער ליכט אױף אַ שיִער נישט פֿינסטערן קײַלעך.
Berlins jiddische Gemeinschaft lädt Freund:innen und Nachbar:innen zu einer Zusammenkunft von jiddischen lider (Gedichten, Liedern und deren Überschneidungen) im Monat Kheshvn ein – eine stille Zeit, in der die Nächte länger werden und selbst die halbe levone (Halbmond) sich von der Sonne abwendet. Gemeinsam wollen wir einen sonst trüben Abend in ein Fest zeitgenössischer jiddischer Kultur verwandeln und mehr Licht auf eine fast verdunkelte Scheibe werfen.
Cuireann pobal labhartha na Giúdaise Bheirlín fáilte roimh chairde agus comharsana teacht le chéile le haghaidh oíche lider (amhráin, dánta agus gach craic eatarthu) le linn mhí ghealaí Khezhvn, nuair a éiríonn na hoícheanta níos faide agus a thiontaíonn an halbe levone, an leathghealach, a chúl leis an ngriain. Bígí linn le hoíche dhoiléir dhorcha a thiontú ina ceiliúradh ar chultúr na Giúdaise comhaimseartha (le smeadar Gaeilge mar dhlaíóg mhullaigh) le solas a lonrú ar chruinne atá i bhfolach faoi scáth.
